State of Origin — The Brightside
Paid commission — Brisbane pub event poster, Maroons palette, cut-out collage
Paid commission for The Brightside, a Brisbane outdoor venue running their State of Origin Game 1 watch party — live and loud on the big screen, hosted by Shaggy Knees. The brief was Maroons through and through: deep crimson linen ground, cream slab-serif typography stacked tall enough to read from across the bar, and a hand-cut collage of legendary Queensland players torn straight out of archive sports photography. Premiership-winning grin, mid-tackle stills, sideline brotherhood — all sliced and reassembled like a fan zine. The venue itself sits below the headline in a full-color photograph: shipping-container architecture, picnic tables, palm trees, the giant LED screen waiting for kickoff. Event details run across the bottom — 27 MAY, DOORS 6 PM, FREE ENTRY — anchored by package pricing ($55 includes tap beer, wine, soft drinks, wings, fries, XXXX cap, raffle tickets) and the prize tier (signed Maroons jersey, two tickets to Game 3 at Suncorp, meat tray). Sponsor lockups for Lucky Egg, The Brightside, and Oztix close the poster like a footer. Designed for both wheat-pasting around Brisbane and pushing on Instagram — works on both surfaces because the hierarchy holds at any size.
